What's Fall Really Like in Chattanooga?

Autumn in Chattanooga

It’s Magical.

Roads covered in leaves + waterfalls and mountains filled with color — it must be autumn in the Scenic City.

It’s the first of October and you’re starting to see fall everywhere: in pumpkin spice flavored anything, in your favorite shows and movies, in your Instagram & Facebook feeds, maybe even in your dreams! But where can you truly experience fall? We would urge you to consider Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Here’s why:

Views, Views, Views

Take to the endless hiking trails surrounding Chattanooga and you’ll get to enjoy some of the best autumn scenery in the United States, if not the world. The Cumberland Plateau is home to a great variety of trees, which means a great variety of color. You can go for a hike in one part of the state today and another part of the state tomorrow and see completely different colors! Not to mention that with autumn comes the perfect hiking weather.

Swinging Bridges, Fairytale Roads, Leafy Trails

It’s not all about the waterfalls and mountain views. We gotta show some love to the scenery along the way too! Many hiking trails near Chattanooga feature swinging bridges. And with many scenic mountain roads, sometimes the best part of the adventure is the road trip that leads to the hiking trail! Lastly, who doesn’t love that crunch beneath your feet as you pass through the peaceful autumn woods?

Have you heard the news?

We are now offering guided tours of Lula Lake Land Trust!

This incredible property, established in 1994, is home to many beautiful clear water creeks, world-class mountain views, and two gorgeous waterfalls — one of them over 100 feet tall!

If you’ve never heard of Lula Lake, it’s probably because they aren’t always open! The land trust is only open to the public on the first and last weekends of every month. Not only that, but they now utilize a permit system, which means if you don’t purchase a permit online first, you cannot visit Lula Lake. Oh and by the way, permits are limited and they often sell out!

What makes your Lula Lake tours so special?

Here’s what makes them special: they’re private! Yes, we have access to Lula Lake on days when it is closed to the general public. We may run into a few other nature lovers out there, as there are some photographers & donors who also have access, but more than likely on our tours, we will get to have this scenic paradise all to ourselves!

For us at Experience Chattanooga, this is a dream come true! We are beyond grateful to the amazing folks over at Lula Lake Land Trust (https://www.lulalake.org/) for their generosity and their support of our mission to provide incredible outdoor experiences for Chattanooga visitors & locals alike. We’ll be giving back to Lula Lake by donating 10% of every Lula Lake Tour booked with us to the Lula Lake Land Trust, so that they can continue to preserve & protect the land we love!

And as with all of our tours, we’ll be providing the transportation, Chattanooga restaurant discounts, and a professional photo gallery of each adventure, all included in the price!

Top 4 Reasons not to book a tour with Experience Chattanooga:

  1. You’ll have way too much fun.

Swinging bridges, fresh mountain air, waterfalls — it’s all overrated! You’d be better off staying inside, watching Netflix, ordering a pizza, and watching someone else’s adventure on TV!

2. The views are too good.

Tennessee is an incredible place and Experience Chattanooga tour guides know the best spots around…. You’ll probably fall in love with Chattanooga and want to move there — and we all know moving is no fun!!! Again, you’re better off staying home and sticking to what you know. The last thing you’d want is to be swept off your feet by incredible views that cause your desire for adventure to grow stronger!

3. Professional photography is included.

Y’all, this one is a no-brainer. Professional photographers usually charge hundreds of dollars for just a few photos. The fact that Experience Chattanooga takes pictures of your whole adventure, creates a personalized gallery for you, and then sends you that gallery for free?!?! That can only mean one thing — they must be crazy. Why would you book a tour with people who have clearly fallen off their rockers? You wouldn’t!

4. Discounted food & drinks at top Chattanooga local restaurants.

We can all agree on this one: paying full price at restaurants is the way to go. Nobody likes a discount on their meal — then it doesn’t taste as good! Experience Chattanooga gives you discounts at some of the best restaurants in Chattanooga — Italian eateries with Italian wine, a hamburger joint with glorious milkshakes, a coffee shop with mind-blowing french toast, a plant-based kitchen with healthy smoothies & juices & açaí bowls, and a dessert place with delicious homemade gelato. Why on earth would you want discounts on any of that great stuff?

Early Spring Adventures in Chattanooga

So you’ve decided to visit Chattanooga this spring and you’re wondering: How do I get the most out of my vacation? Well, we have plenty of fun adventures to offer y’all this time of year! In April, we had our first tour group from outside the U.S. and they absolutely loved experiencing Chattanooga with us! Here is what they had to say:

“Myself and my husband had an absolutely fantastic day with Hope and Ryan when we completed our hike with them. We had to plan the hike from the UK and the guys were a great help, giving us lots of information ahead of our visit including tips about the weather and what to wear. This was so helpful to us as were traveling for quite a few weeks so it was nice to know what to expect and be able to pack accordingly. The hike itself was amazing, they guys know a lot about the local area and the best hidden gems. We had to slightly alter the original plan due to weather and they did a fantastic job of last minute improvisation and we got to see a few places rather than the original one.
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole day it was a great way to see the beautiful scenery and Hope and Ryan are a lovely couple to spend the day with. We would highly recommend this to visitors and tourists alike as you will not regret it . Thank you both so much :)” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As you can see, it’s our mission to make sure you get the most out of your time here in Chattanooga! Our adventures are great for all ages & skill levels, and we even offer custom tours to meet your interests, as well as family discounts. May is also the first month we’ll be offering swimming hole adventures at some of our gorgeous clear water creeks and waterfalls. Basically what we’re trying to say is: bring your bathing suit!

One of Chattanooga’s incredible clear water creeks, tucked away in the mountains.

March 2019 Adventures

Chattanooga Sunrise

Chattanooga Sunrise

We couldn’t be happier to have made new friends in March from states like Illinois, Alabama, and even Pennsylvania! We saw a couple of incredible sunrises, chased waterfalls on icicle-lined trails, and spent a lot of time in the mountains relishing the views & noticing the signs of spring’s impending arrival!

As we look forward to April, we’re excited for our mountains to turn green again and we’re hoping for more rain to keep the waterfalls flowing great! Most of our tours in March were custom tours, which we are so happy to put together for our customers! If you’re interested in creating your own tour based on what you’d like to see, feel free to reach out to us via email or phone call.

Our adventure of the month for April is the “Don’t Tell Mom” Experience. This is one of our more difficult hikes, but the pay-off is a huge view…
